Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)/Photofacial removes sun spots and treat rosacea, broken veins and capillaries and flushing.
IPL is one of the most popular procedures offered at Nuveau due to its effectiveness in removing sun spots. IPL is a light-based therapy that targets pigment deep in the skin and "lifts" these spots toward the surface. The spots then fall off approximately one to two weeks after the treatment. With each successive IPL treatment, more spots come to the surface and disappear. Intense pulsed light is an excellent skin rejuvenation therapy for patients with active lifestyles because the procedure requires no recovery time and very few side effects.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) also helps to improve or eliminate flushing of the skin caused by rosacea. Once Dr. Cheng has diagnosed your skin condition as rosacea, one of the most effective ways to combat this issue is through a series of photofacials (also known as IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light). This safe, light-based treatment is designed to diminish redness and flushing caused by the presence of tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and requires no anesthesia or downtime. Patients can have this treatment performed during their lunch break and return to work immediately after the procedure.

Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a safe, fast, and effective option for eliminating unwanted hair. Targeting the melanin (color) in the hair follicle, the laser works by emitting a specialized light that passes through the skin and is absorbed by the hair. Laser hair reduction is safe enough to be used on all body parts, including the face, back, underarms, bikini line, legs, and arms.

To ensure your safety and comfort, as well as your satisfaction with results, Nuveau Medical Aesthetics employs the most current, state-of-the-art laser technology for laser hair reduction. The Sciton Profile System includes both the Nd:YAG laser and the intense pulsed light module (IPL). This allows for flexibility in treating all skin and hair types. Even tanned skin can be safely treated with the laser hair reduction procedure.

Laser Vein Removal
Both the Nd:YAG laser and IPL are proven methods for treating unsightly broken and dilated vessels, as well as other unwanted vascular lesions such as rosacea, and select vascular birthmarks. All skin areas can be treated. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest, and legs.

Laser vein removal treatment works by causing the unwanted vein to break-up and safely dissolve. Resolution of the unwanted vein(s) takes place over the course of several weeks. The most common side effect is bruising around the treated area. This will resolve within a few days of treatment. There is virtually no recovery time from laser vein reduction treatment and you may resume an active lifestyle immediately.

Depending on the severity of the condition, multiple treatments may be required. Improvement generally lasts for several years. Over time, new veins may develop, requiring future "touch-up" treatments.

Laser Resurfacing

When it comes to reviving your skin's overall texture, softening the difficult to treat fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth, no cosmetic procedure rivals the effectiveness of laser resurfacing. At Nuveau Medical Aesthetics, Dr. Cheng tailors her treatment plans with two different types of resurfacing laser.

DOT Therapy is the new fractionated CO2 laser

DOT Therapy is the latest state-of-the-art resurfacing procedure featuring the new, SmartXide fractionated CO2 laser. DOT Therapy is a laser resurfacing procedure designed to soften lines and wrinkles, even out skin tones, and improve surface irregularities such as acne scarring. The result is a smoother, radiant and more youthful appearance to your skin.

In as little as 60 minutes, DOT Therapy can treat common skin issues such as brown spots, uneven skin tones, sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, enlarged pores, and acne scarring. By creating thousands of small, deep, controlled perforations (DOTs) in the treated areas, the fractionated CO2 laser allows your skin to heal more quickly by laying down new collagen and remodeling existing ones. Because of its fractionated feature, patients experience minimal downtime with rapid healing, quick and impressive results, and the entire procedure is performed in the clinic under topical anesthesia! DOT Therapy is one of the most effective tools in restoring your skin's youthful appearance.

MicroLaserPeel to resurface dull, sun-damaged skin

Microlaser peel is a laser resurfacing procedure designed to remove layers of dull, dead skin to reveal smoother, radiant, more youthful looking skin. This extremely precise laser technology allows for the removal of a predetermined depth of the epidermis. Dr. Cheng is able to tailor the treatment to eliminate or soften such problems as fines lines around the eyes and lips, certain types of benign moles, large skin tags, superficial age spots, freckles, uneven skin tones and acne scars.

During a consultation with Dr. Cheng, you will decide on the depth of peel that will address the specific needs of your skin. Here are some of the more popular laser peels performed at Nuveau:
